SPUI, O EL FONDO SOBRE LA FIGURA/ SPUI, OR THE BACKGROUND OVER THE FIGURE

Spui, calle de Ámsterdam famosa por su carácter rebelde (o eso dice Google) que se encuentra situada muy cerca de Ámsterdam Centraal (mítica estación central de Ámsterdam donde convergen aquellos que van, aquellos que vienen, aquellos que esperan a los que vienen, aquellos que sin más esperan y se entretienen mirando a los que esperan a los que vienen, y a pianistas espontáneos que convierten tu vida en una vida con banda sonora), no tiene pérdida, es una de las calles que te dirige directamente al centro de la ciudad.

La primera vez que estuve en esa calle fue por la noche, con el equipo de Knock Down. Tras recoger el material, y haber celebrado el éxito y estrés de la obra en camerinos, la idea era seguir celebrando en una casa ocupa situada en Spui (¡Cómo son estos artistas!). Nuestro gozo en un pozo cuando nos cobraban por entrar. ¿EN SERIO? ¿PAGAR POR ENTRAR EN UNA CASA OCUPA?

El caso es que no es una calle especialmente bien iluminada, sin embargo es inevitable sentir ese cosquilleo, ese no sé qué que qué sé yo cuando te encuentras una calle totalmente disfrazada de colores que por la noche tan solo puedes intuir pero que por el día te abrazan, te gritan, te aturden, quieren estar contigo y a la vez te están diciendo “¡Fuera de aquí!”.

En esta ocasión, y como en casi todas, dirigí mi objetivo hacia los anónimos que paseaban por Spui, creando el contraste figura-fondo, ya no sólo desde el punto de vista estético (color, forma, tamaño…) sino también contextual, creando así un doble contraste, en el que el fondo siempre destaca sobre la figura.

Pero es hermoso cuando este tipo de cosas pasan y te desarman la tesis, y de repente te encuentras con el efecto contrario, en el que el personaje destaca (con su doble contraste) sobre el fondo.

Spui, Amsterdam´s Street famous for its rebel character (said by Google) which is based very closely from Amsterdam Centraal (legendary Amsterdam Central Station where those who go, those who come, those who are waiting for those who are coming, those who are just standing around looking distracted at those who are waiting for those who are coming, and spontaneous pianists who become your life in a life with soundtrack, converge), access is easy, is one of the street which drive you to the city center.

The first time I was in this Street, it was in the night, with the Knock Down team. After tidying up the equipment, and after having celebrated the play´s successful into the dressing rooms, the idea was to continue celebrating in a squat hause based in Spui (¡How are these artists!). It´s gone down the drain when they asked us for paying to go in. REALLY? PAY FOR GOING INTO A SQUAT HOUSE?

It is not a specially well-lit Street, however it is impossible to don´t feeling that tinkle when you stay in a full costumed by colors street which in the night you are only able to intuit, but during the day they hug you, they shout you, they stun you, they want to be with you and at the same time they are saying to you “Get out of here!”

In this occasion, and in almost everyone, I drove my objective to the anonymous who walked around Spui, creating the figure-bottom contrast, not only from an esthetic point of view (color, shape, size…) but also contextual, creating like this a double contrast, in which the background always stand out over the figure.

But it is wonderful when this kind of things happen and disarm your thesis, and suddenly you find the opposite effect, in which the figure stand out (with its double contrast) over the background.
